The Santa Cruz Rowing Club hosts two races each year:
The Monterey Bay Crossing on the third Saturday in August. The Monterey Bay Crossing is a 22-nautical mile race from Santa Cruz Harbor to Monterey Harbor. Rowers leave before daybreak and arrive 3-7 hours later in Monterey. Rowers must be escorted by power boats for safety. Though the course is a straight heading all the way to Monterey, various navigational and equipment challenges can happen along the way, not to mention the effects of fatigue. The Monterey Bay Crossing is for experienced rowers only. More information will be posted here as the race date approaches.
The Lobster Row on the first Sunday in October. Join us for the annual Santa Cruz Rowing Club Lobster Row. This well-known race has attracted some of California’s best open water rowers and paddlers through the years, and provided an opportunity for those new to racing to enjoy a beautiful course. The race is open to all people-powered craft. Accompanied by a delicious lobster meal by Chef Poppy de Garmo, a good time is had by all. More information will be posted here as the race date approaches.
