Come tour with us. What could be better than to join a group of fun people for a rowing adventure? Thanks to the leadership of Joe Hoffmann (and the tireless support of his wife Irene), SCRC is serious about touring.
You don't need to be a SCRC Club member. Meet us at the venue and tour with us! We welcome rowers from other clubs.
We just finished our Willamette River Rowing Tour, September 5-12, 2009. We rowed over 100 miles during the week, from the OSU Boathouse in Corvallis (go Beavers!) to Willamette Park in West Linn, just short of the falls and the lock. Temperatures varied from the 70's early in the week up to 92 degrees on Friday. Fortunately a stop at Champoeg State Park to watch the historical films in an air-conditioned theatre helped cool us off at mid-day.
Eleven people toured this year in singles and doubles. After each day of rowing, we secured our boats and were driven back to the hotel, where we cleaned up, had a civilized evening and a nice dinner. Then, we met at 9 am each day for our ride back to the river. Thank you to all the nice people along the way who cheerfully let us store boats in their yards, drove us around, brought us cool refreshments, made us lunch, kept having to refill the breakfast bar for us, and on and on.
Please email Joe Hoffmann if you are interested in learning more about future tours.
